ABOUT DARREN

I'm Darren Canfield, the person behind Dazza Does It For You.

I started developing these tools because I kept seeing situations where the information needed to make a good decision existed, but it was scattered across manuals, spreadsheets, websites, calculators and people's experience.

Modern software — particularly when combined with carefully controlled AI-assisted development — gives a small developer the ability to bring those pieces together into tools that previously would have required a much larger software team.

My role is not simply to ask AI to “make an app”.

I define what the software needs to do, research the subject, establish the calculation and data requirements, work through the architecture, test the results, identify gaps and keep refining the product until the workflow makes sense.

AI helps accelerate parts of the development process.

The product design, engineering rules, data decisions, testing requirements and final direction remain deliberately controlled.

WHY RV SOLAR + BATTERY DESIGNER WAS BUILT

Designing an RV electrical system is much more complicated than adding up the wattage of a few appliances.

Solar, batteries, charging, inverter capacity, DC-DC charging, alternator behaviour, generators, air conditioning, weather, location, equipment limits and how the RV is actually used all interact.

A system can look adequate on paper and still perform badly in the real world.

RV Solar + Battery Designer was created to bring those interacting systems into one design environment.

The objective is to help answer practical questions such as:

How much energy will this RV actually use?

How much solar is required?

Will the battery bank support the expected load?

Can the charging system recover the energy being used?

Is the inverter correctly sized?

Will the selected equipment work together?

What happens during poor solar conditions?

A significant part of the development of RV Solar + Battery Designer has therefore been the creation of structured technical datasets covering the components and conditions used in Australian RV electrical systems.

Where practical, equipment information is based on manufacturer documentation and direct manufacturer information.

The system is designed to distinguish between verified information, assumptions and matters that still require confirmation.

If reliable information is not available, the software should say so rather than pretending that an answer is certain.

AI-ASSISTED — HUMAN-DIRECTED

DazzaDIFY makes extensive use of modern AI-assisted software-development tools.

That allows a small Australian development business to research, design, build and improve specialised software much faster than traditional development methods alone.

But AI is a development tool — it is not the product owner.
